What is Reiki?
Reiki is a safe, natural Japanese hands-on healing technique working with the channelling of energy to create balance on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels of a being.
The name "Reiki" comes from the Japanese characters making up "Rei" and "Ki" translated in the West as meaning "Universal Life Energy".
Whilst the teaching of Reiki in the West has become more familiar as a form of therapy for treatment, the original essence of Reiki was for self-treatment and spiritual development.
The use of energy therapies has become increasingly common with the familiarity of the general public with acupuncture (chanelling "chi" via meridians in the Chinese culture) or via yoga (using the energy centred around "chakras" in India). The flow of energy in the living environment is cultivated in the practice of "feng-shui" thereby acknowledging that energy is all around, not just within the body.
Reiki however has no links to any religious or belief systems and therefore has no conflict with anyone's own individual beliefs or lack thereof, making it accessible to all.
Reiki can therefore be seen as chanelling the energy that surrounds us all in the more tangible sense or as divine love or light, depending on your view point.
Evidence however supports the understanding that all matter resonates at it's own frequency and it is with that knowledge that Reiki is used to focus energy at the appropriate frequency to balance an individual's energy system.
Reiki is not spiritual healing which varies in it's origins, ways of connecting to the energy, beliefs and ways of treating.
